| Rosemary wants to be a shrub rather than an herb so as it ages the stems become woody. You can cut your plant back by about a third but don't cut it all the way back to the bare wood or it may not leaf out again. While you're at it, take some of the cuttings and root them so you can have fresh new plants. Simply take 4-5" long tip cuttings, strip the leaves from the lower half, dip the cut end in rooting hormone and place them in a container filled with moistened potting soil. The cuttings will root within a few weeks. Good luck with your rosemary! |
