|Is there any way to get rid of/kill the root system of poison ivy/oak without using harsh chemicals or exposing skin to the poison plants?|
|The only non-chemical way to control poison ivy or oak is to grub it out. Wait until the soil is wet. If you try to dig and pull it out from dry soil you'll leave pieces of roots in the soil. Root pieces remaining in the soil will sprout vigorously and replace the original plants. Repeated cutting of the plant back to the ground surface when it resprouts will eventually starve the root system and the plant will die. However, repeated cutting increases the chances of exposure to the poisonous
oil. Wish there were another solution!
