What are the similarities of comets and meteorites?

A comet is in orbit around the sun, and often has a long, sweeping tail. Because the comet orbits the sun, astronomers can predict exactly when the comet will be visible to us.

Meteorites are meteors that strike the earth's surface. A meteor is a small "body" (made of rock/ice?) that enters the earth's atmosphere. Since it's not in orbit, it doesn't reappear like a comet does.

Not exactly in my field of expertise, but I was curious so I looked it up.
