|Last night I watered my Purple D'Oro DayLily and today it is all but 2 leaves dead. My Mexican Shell flowers are turning brown, one is now leaning, not holding up. My Tahiti Sunrise Daylily is turning brown, a leaf or
2 is on each. Is it not enough water, bugs??? All were planted 6/6/09.
|Watering is a subjective thing. How often you water will depend upon your soil type, the weather, and the types of plants you are growing. Twice a week deep soakings should be fine for daylilies and Mexican Shell flowers in your gardening region during the summer months. If plants fail to thrive, look at the sun exposure, soil texture (is it amended with organic matter?) and soil fertility. Your plants may need to be fed or there may be some chemical damage to them from pesticides. I can't really diagnose the problems without seeing the plants. But look into the above to see if you can determine just what might be going on with your new plants.|
