|My cabbage leaves are getting all scunched up, curly and turning towards the sky. Meanwhile, my red cabbage looks healthy. Any ideas?|
|I'd inspect the cabbage leaves carefully--look on the undersides of the leaves for signs of aphids. A heavy aphid infestation can cause distorted leaves. Aphids are pretty easy to control--a strong stream of water can often wash them away. If you repeat this often enough, you may be able to keep them under control. Generally, other common pests cause holes in the leaves--and you don't mention this.|
Another possiblility is a boron deficiency, which can result in rough, curling leaves and either a hollow or rotting core. Why this would affect one type of cabbage, but not your red cabbage, is a mystery. A boron deficiency can be detected by a soil test--but in the meantime it wouldn't hurt to spray plants with a liquid seaweed extract.
