|I am having a problem with my roses this year here in the High Desert. Something is eating the leaves of my roses. I can not find any signs of insects, I've even checked at night. So far the buds are ok. Can you suggest anything?
|If you can't find the critters who are munching your rose leaves, and you don't see any frass (bug poop) that indicates caterpillars, the probable culprits are beetles. Japanese beetles are especially troublesome for roses, but other beetles chew leaves and petals as well. You may want to use rotenone on the leaves to discourage beetle attacks, or a neem based product called Neem-Away. Both are available by mail order through Gardens Alive, 5100 Schenley Pl. Lawrenceburg, IN 47025 (812) 537-8650. Hope you're able to control the problem quickly!|
