|I have box shrubs around a tree that is losing its small leaves for the first time. The leaves have spots on them and then fall off. I have watered the bushes more, but that does not seem to help. A couple of the branches broke off in early summer.

|Leaf spotting can indicate insect feeding or a fungal disease. I can't really diagnose the problem without seeing it so I'm not sure what to recommend. You might try simply shearing the plants back to remove the affected leaves (and any pests that might be feeding on them). If the new growth exhibits the same spotting, you'll want to take a few of the affected leaves into your local cooperative extension office or well staffed nursery for help in identifying the problem. Helpful folks there can then make control recommendations. Good luck with ryou boxwoods!
