My bell pepper plant has not start producing bell peppers yet. I planted them May 22, and still not bell pepper. My problem is that not the plant is starting to get holes on the leaves and slugs. I think that my cucumber vine, must have stop the growth. What can i put on it to stop the slugs and bugs from eating my leaves. It's a organic garden by the way. Thanks in advance Cynthia

Most garden vegetable plants can endure some insect feeding so don't be too alarmed by the holes in the leaves. You can use the iron based slug control product called Sluggo. It takes care of slugs and snails and whatever is not consumed decomposes into simple iron, which is something that you soil can use. The rest of the insect problems can be ignored, or at the very least you can hose your plants off periodically to dislodge the pests. There are pyrethrum based insect sprays on the market. They are plant derived and considered organic by some gardeners. As for non-production, lack of pollination, excessive heat or just plant immaturity can all cause vegetable plants to flower and not produce fruit. As the season extends and the weather cools a bit I think you'll see some production from your plants. Enjoy your harvest!
