I am raising tomatoes for the first time from seed. The plant is strong and healthy with blooms on it. But it needs to be in a bigger container. Will I loose my bloom/tomato if I transplant now? |
If you transplant carefully, your tomato plant probably won't even know it's been transplanted. Start by putting some moistened potting soil into a larger container and then setting the plant (still in the original container) into the soil to see how much more potting soil you'll need to add. Firm additional potting soil around the sides of the container so you have an exact planting hole. Then carefully turn the tomato plant on its side, ease it out of the small container and immediately set it into the new planting hole. Firm the soil to exclude air pockets and then water it well to help settle the soil. Your plant probably won't even know it's be moved. |
