How do you kill a trumpet vine. I have been unsuccessful, to date, with digging out the roots as far as possible or using defoliant. It keeps coming back. HELP!

I'm afraid it isn't easy - repeated applications of Round Up or Brush B Gon, along with continuous chopping is the best way to permanently remove the plant. The roots have stored energy which they expend each time they send up a new shoot. If you keep that new growth continually chopped down, the roots will eventually run out of stored energy and will die out. If you allow the new shoots to develop leaves, they will transport energy back to the roots. So, keep those newly emerging shoots cut down and paint the stubs with full strength Round Up or Brush B Gon. Just keep at it and eventually you'll be the victor.
