I plant impatiens along my front walkway. It is shady due to a lg oak tree in front. Past years have yielded beautiful blooms, but now, they aren't growing well. Any suggestions?

Aside from the weather, I can't think of any particular reason why your impatiens are not thriving this year. Sometimes the soil becomes depleted and needs a boost. Before planting next year, try spreading 2-3 inches of organic matter over the bed and digging it in to help enrich the soil, allow it to drain well yet hold just the right amount of moisture for the roots of your impatiens. As for this year's plants, you can try feeding with a liquid (foliar) fertilizer to see if that doesn't jump start them so they'll perform well for you the rest of the season. Best wishes with your impatiens!
