Pollock Pines, Ca
|Hi. I bought several of these at HD. The tag says these will spread to 3'T and 6'W. Sunset Garden book says the Tom Thumb will spread only to about 4-6

|Tom Thumb Cotoneaster is sometimes confused with Little Gem. Tom Thumb is a slow grower, generally 4 to 8 inches tall but after many years can slowly mound to a foot or so height if never pruned. It easily spreads three feet around, can eventually spread six feet, or self-root where limbs touch the ground & creep even farther. Growing conditions will dictate the ultimate size of your plant. I'm convinced the plant tag is incorrect and Sunset Western Garden Book is the best source of information for your new cotoneaster.
