Summer is probably not the best time to dig and transplant - the act of transplanting can be stressful, and coupled with the heat of summer, the plants may not do well. With that in mind... choose containers with adequate drainage holes and plan on using potting soil rather than garden soil. Dig each plant carefully, expecting the roots to be directly below the plant and extending out to at least the ends of the longest branches or stems. Start digging there and work your way down and towards the middle of the plant. Brush or shake off excess soil and plant in your containers. Good luck with the move!
