|Your shrub may not regrow if you prune it down to ground level. Plants need their leaves to manufacture carbohydrates for the roots. If you cut everything down, there will be no leaves and no photosynthesis. A better approach is to reduce the size of your burning bush over a 2-3 year period. You can prune it back by one third this year, and next spring prune it back by one third again. If it is still too large you can prune it back again the following spring. Good luck with your burning bush!
