| I have had the palm for about two weeks and the tips of the ferns are turning brown, and dying...what can I do...I kep it moist, but is out side and gets sun...do you recomend inside?,,,and what can I do to stop it from browning....?...Help! |
| I think your majesty palm is getting too much sunshine. Majesty palms make perfect indoor plants because they grow well in bright areas and don't require direct sunshine. It is possible that your new plant was grown in a greenhouse or at least was provided shade from direct sunshine before you bought it. Moving it from a protected area into direct sunshine is probably what is causing the browning fronds. Move it to a brightly lit spot but one out of direct sunshine and the damage should stop. I'd water the plant thoroughly and then allow the top of the soil to dry out between waterings. Overly moist soils can suffocate roots because the moisture drives out all the oxygen and plant roots need oxygen as well as moisture in order to thrive. So, move your plant to a more protected area and change your watering habits and your majesty palm should perk up. When it gets lots of new growth you can trim off the dead fronds. Enjoy your new plant! |
