You can deadhead Knock Out roses but it isn't necessary. However, deadheading, if you prune the flower stem back to a main stem, will encourage new growth and should keep your Knock Out roses full and thick. You can even out the shape of your rose by pruning everything back now, or waiting until next spring and pruning everything back. Knock Out roses will take almost any amount of pruning without skipping a beat. It's normal for the lower, older leaves to yellow and drop in mid-summer. New leaves will be produced. Enjoy your roses.
