can you tell me what plants i can bring in and will survive over winter? I have some annuals, and some perrenials in containters, and would like to keep them going over the winter. ex: petunias, lobelia, impatiens, begonis, geraniums, etc. |
Most annuals will grow, flower, set seeds and die. You can sometimes prolong their lives by cutting off the spent flowers before they set seeds. In most cases they will bloom a second time. But, after that, they usually die off. Petunias are not good candidates for growing indoors. They thrive in warm weather and lots of sun. Lobelia will grow for a while indoors as will impatiens, but both will die off by Christmas time. Begonias and geraniums can be coaxed into growing indoors for most of the winter. Give them lots of bright light (near a window sill). Good luck with your indoor flower garden! |
