When can I move a Crepe Myrtle bush - Knowledgebase Question

I want to relocate a 3-year-old crepe myrtle plant. When should I? How? I'm in the Philadelphia,PA area.

You can dig and move your crepe myrtle now, or you can wait until spring when new growth begins. Expect the roots to be directly beneath the plant and in the top 12-18" of soil. When you dig, try not to sever too many of the larger roots and be sure to replant so it is sitting at the same soil level as it was growing before. Water it deeply once each week to encourage the roots to re-establish quickly. Best wishes with the move.
