What can I do to level the low spots in my yard? I have St Augustine grass and some of the spots are a couple of inches lower than the surrounding areas. Can I safely add sand or soil in small amounts until the area is level?

Yes, you can add topsoil to fill in the low spots. I would spread only an inch at a time and allow the lawn to grow through, then add another inch or so to bring the areas up to the right level. By adding topsoil in increments, the St. Augustine will grow right up through it rather than be suffocated and die off. Good luck with your project!
