You didn't mention the type of grass seed you used and that might make a difference in its performance during the hottest months of the year. There are both cool season and warm season turfgrasses. Cool season grasses grow best in the spring and fall months but they go dormant during the summer months. Warm season grasses green up when the weather warms but go dormant in the fall and spring months. To have a green lawn from spring through fall, you'll want a mixture of both warm and cool season grasses. For right now, you can overseed with a cool season grass mixture. In April you can overseed with a warm season turf grass seed. Between the two you should have a green lawn most of the year.
