geranium doesn't bloom - Knowledgebase Question

Purchased a beautiful potted mixture of plants from Whole Foods at the beginning of the Summer. The geranium has not bloomed since the original ones died off. It gets both sun and fertilizer and has new growth, but no blooms! Please advise to correct this dilemma!
Thanks, Tina

How disappointing, especially since you are giving your geranium plenty of sunshine. I've found that geraniums perform best when planted in rather lean and somewhat dry soil and they flower best without fertilizer. I think you may be giving your geranium too much TLC. It's getting late in the season and since geraniums are annuals why not snap off a few stems and root them for growing indoors this winter? They're easy to root in water and if you grow them in bright light and pinch them back regularly this winter you'll have several nice sized plants to plant outdoors next spring. Best wishes with your garden!
