The following shade plants for your region will tolerate dry soils: Alchemilla mollis (Lady's Mantle); Arctostaphylos uva-ursi (Kinnikinnick); Bergenia cordifolia (Heartleaf Bergenia); Brunnera macrophylla (Perennial Forget-me-Not); Calamintha grandiflora (Beautiful Mint); Campanula portenshlagiana (Dalmatian Bellflower); Galium odoratum (Sweet Woodruff); Heuchera sanguinea (Coralbells); Lamium maculatum (Spotted Dead Nettle); Mahonia repens (Creeping Grape Holly); Philadelphus microphyllus (Littleleaf Mockorange); Rosa glauca (Redleaf Rose); Ptelea trifoliata (Wafer Ash); Ribes Aureum (Golden Currant); Rubus deliciosus (Boulder Raspberry); Sedum spurium (Two-row Stonecrop); Stachys lanata (Lamb's Ear); Symphoricarpos x chenaultii (Chenault Coralberry). Although all are drought tolerant once established, it's important to keep them watered regularly during their first growing season. Enjoy your new garden! |
