Plants can struggle if they are getting the wrong exposure to sunshine, if they are getting too much or too little water, or if your potting soil is depleted. Both plants will grow in sunshine - at least 4 hours per day. The potting soil needs to be moist but not soggy wet and they should be fed every 3-4 weeks with a half strength dilution of water soluable fertilizer. It's a little late in the growing season to expect too much more from them this year. Before planting your windowbox next season, remove the old potting soil and either replace it or mix about 50-50 percent new potting soil into the old potting soil and refill your windowbox. This should help next year's plants thrive. |
