|I don't think you're doing anything wrong! Plants develop flower buds and leaf buds on new growth. You can tell the difference when looking closely at them. Flower buds are fat; leaf buds are skinny. When you thought you were getting new flowers it was actually a case of mistaken identity! Gardenias need bright light so make sure your new plant is getting lots of light and it will develop new flower buds in a few weeks. Enjoy!
