Is it too late to trim my cotoneaster bushes? I'd like to trim off a third.
Also, when do I take my dahlias in? Do I wait til after a frost?

Thanks, Dorian

Spring is the best time to prune your cotoneasters. If you prune them back now they may develop winter damage and you'll end up pruning them again in the spring. I'd just wait until spring and do it only once! Wait until frost kills the tops of your dahlias back. At that time you can cut off the dead foliage and dig the tubers. When frost kills the tops of the plants it signals them to go into dormancy. If you cut the tops off too soon, the tubers won't store as well. So, just wait until the tops are blackened by frost. Good luck with your garden!
