| Do to it's extremely high water content, watermelon can not be frozen and maintain it's integrity, taste and texture. If you have a bumper crop of watermelon you could instead try a few different things. I have had success dehydrating it in one of those food dehydrator gizmos. It shrinks QUITE a bit as you would imagine, but the result is delicious, sugary sweet candy like tidbits. You can also make watermelon marmalade, watermelon granita, watermelon salsa, watermelon daiquiri....even watermelon rind pickles! |
