I would like to know if you can put watermelon in a freezer. If so, what would be the best way to freeze it and for how long?

Do to it's extremely high water content, watermelon can not be frozen and maintain it's integrity, taste and texture. If you have a bumper crop of watermelon you could instead try a few different things. I have had success dehydrating it in one of those food dehydrator gizmos. It shrinks QUITE a bit as you would imagine, but the result is delicious, sugary sweet candy like tidbits. You can also make watermelon marmalade, watermelon granita, watermelon salsa, watermelon daiquiri....even watermelon rind pickles!
