In my garden the regular chives flower very heavily in mid spring along with the tall bearded iris. If I trim them back they will repeat in mid summer and if I trim them back again, will usually flower again in the fall. The quality of the later shows depends greatly on the available levels of water and nutrients, however. The garlic chives bloom only once a year, in late summer. The blooms usually make a show for several weeks each time.
