Chrysanthemums grow and flower best in full sunshine. If yours looked wilted after being planted, it's probably going through some serious transplant shock. The best way to help your plant is to keep it watered twice a week and just wait for it to establish its roots and perk up. If it's in the hot sunshine you might want to temporarily shade it from afternoon sunshine until it perks up. Place a couple of stakes in the ground and drape cheesecloth, row cover or even weed barrier over the stakes to keep the afternoon sun off the plant. It should perk up soon and at that time you can remove the temporary shade. Best wishes with your mum!
