Weed and feed contains a pre emergence product which will stop both weed and grass seeds from germinating. I'd forego the weed and feed on your newly seeded lawn and use a starter fertilizer instead. In the spring you can apply a corn gluten meal pre emergent to keep weeds from sprouting. For right now, just use a starter fertilizer with an NPK ratio of 16-22-8 or similar. Best wishes with your lawn!
