Thin roots can indicate too much shade, not enough nutrients, or frequent but shallow watering. Grass grows best in full sunshine and should be fed in April, June, September and early November with a 3-1-2 ratio of NPK. It needs about an inch of water per week, applied deeply to encourage deep root growth. Hope this information helps!
