HELP, I have a climbing rose that isn't doing too well. I think it is Don Juan. It did well in the beginning of the season but now it really looks sick. It continues to bloom but most of the leaves have fallen off. I would like to know the proper care for climbing roses - when to prune, do you remove the dead blooms etc. I purchased it about 2 or 3 years ago and if my memory is correct it never did well from the beginning. Also, do you recommend using dormant spray in the fall? I welcome any help and comments? |
Growing and caring for hybrid tea roses such as Don Juan is an engrossing hobby and there are many simple steps you can take throughout the year to make your rose thrive. I think you would do best to locate a good basic book on roses such as (as much as I hate the title) Roses for Dummies, by Lance Walheim, ISBN 0-7645-5031-4. This book includes great instructions on all aspects of growing roses and should answer all of your questions. Good luck with your Don Juan! |
