Mulch - Knowledgebase Question

I use Nature's Way organic composted mulch to add to the dirt when planting a new tree and also twice a year I spread it around the water wells of all my trees. However, I have noticed at my local HD a Nature's Way mulch with cotton burr. Is one better than the other for stimulating tree growth?

Thank you,

I think the mulch with cotton burr has a slight edge over the others. Cotton is a very heavy feeder, absorbing massive amounts of nutrients as it grows. Some of these nutrients end up in the in the seed pods, also called cotton 'bolls' or 'burrs'. In most areas these are left on the plant and farmers plow them back into the soil. In the case of Nature's Way, they are included in the compost mix.
