A friend told me when you are deadheading the marigolds the seeds inside the dead flowerhead can be dried and replanted in April the next year to grow again. Is this true

It is true if you allow the seedheads to develop and turn a tannish color before you cut them off the plant. You cannot save the seeds if the flower you deadhead still has petals or is still green. Hope this clarifies things for you.
