I want potted evergreen broad-leaf trees or shrubs, about 6' high as a privacy screen on my deck in Walnut Creek, CA, 30 miles east of San Francisco. The area gets sun till 2pm. Average temp is 75 or so. I don't want citrus because of bees attracted to the blossoms. I had oleander & couldn't make them grow very well. I need help. What do you suggest?

Have you considered growing camellias? Bees are not usually attracted to their blooms (although your mileage may vary). Gardenia and Mountain Laurel are other suggestions. Hope you find just the right shrub for your garden!
