|Your first frost of the season typically arrives the first week of October. That's when temperatures drop to below 32F. This usually occurs overnight, but can occur during daylight hours. It just depends upon the weather front. It takes many days or even weeks of continuing freezing weather before the ground actually freezes so I can't really give you a projected date for when the ground freezes. If you have tender plants, the tops will die down the first time the temperature drops below 32F. When that happens you can cut off the dead plant tops and apply a mulch over the soil to prevent it from heaving during the freeze/thaw cycle. Hope this answers your question.
