Hi, I leave in upstate ny, zone 4-5. I have a potted zinnia that survived the summer. Is it ok to plant it in the flower bed at this time? Thank you.

Zinnias are annual plants so I'm afraid yours will die off at the end of the growing season. But you can save the seeds and plant them in your garden next spring. Just allow the flowers to remain on the plant and when the seed head turns a tannish brown, cut it from the plant and collect the seeds. Allow them to dry throughly then store them in an airtight container in a cool, dark place. Next spring sow the seeds and you'll have lots of zinnias in your garden.
