Tall fescue is the most shade tolerant grass so you might try that. Grass has a really hard time growing in the shade so you may need to overseed each spring to keep it healthy, lush and thick. Or, you might consider growing a shade tolerant groundcover beneath your pear trees. Vinca minor and pachysandra are good choices. Best of all, they won't have to be mowed! Good luck with your landscape!
