Spring and fall are the best times to seed and overseed lawns. Grass seeds germinate fastest when temperatures are 70F and above but will still sprout in 50 or 60F weather. I'd sow the seeds now, the first week of October. Any that do not sprout before snowfall will sit patiently until the ground temperature warms up in the spring and will germinate then. Best wishes with your lawn!
