If you had to chose one, which is the better time to aerate your lawn, in the spring or in the fall? thanks, Lee

Decisions, decisions! Either would be fine. I think I would choose springtime to aerate because I would leave the plugs on the lawn and spread a thin layer of compost over sand over the lawn and follow up with overseeding. Spring rains will dissolve the plugs, help move the compost or sand into the holes left by the plugs and help the grass seeds germinate. I would then have a beautiful lawn to enjoy all summer long. The same process will occur with a fall aeration, but you won't be able to see the fruits of your labor until next spring. Best wishes with your project!
