Low maintenance foundation shrubs for Ohio include Birds Nest Spruce (Picea abies ?nidiformis?), Mugho Pine (Pinus mugho), Mr. Bowling Ball Thuja (Thuja occidentalis ?Mr. Bowling Ball?), Dwarf Alberta Spruce (Picea pungens ?conica?),
Pieris (Pieris japonica), Leucothoe (Leucothoe axillaris), Compact Japanese Holly
(Ilex crenata), Crimson Pygmy Barberry (Berberis thunbergii) and Watanabei Viburnum
(Viburnum P. tomentosum ?Watanabei?). These grow between 2-6' tall so choose the ones that will fit in the area without blocking any windows. Enjoy your new plants!
