young red maple tree planted in August 200. Two other trees have died in that location. Should I wrap the trunk of the tree for the winter? Located in windy spot. If so, what should I use & how should I do it? Thank you.

You can find tree wraps in your local garden center. The easiest to use is one made of plastic. It usually comes in a roll and you simply unwind it around the trunk of your tree. It stays put without being anchored. Tree wraps will help avoid sunscald and bark splitting on young tree trunks so I think it's good insurance for young maples.
