You can snip off spent flowers now but wait until new growth begins in the spring to cut your plants back. Geraniums are considered frost tender annuals so if your garden regularly receives freezing temperatures you may want to take some stem cuttings from your geraniums and root them in small pots to take indoors over the winter months. You can plant them outdoors in the spring.
