|Your fig will grow better in a container than in the ground. Nematodes are a problem in sandy soil and Florida State University extension service recommends growing them in containers. They need full sun (provide some afternoon shade in the hottest summer months), and ample water. Feeding is not necessary. Birds, wasps and other critters enjoy the fruits so you may need to drape bird netting over your fig tree once the figs begin to develop. Enjoy!
