We are moving and will rent a home while we build a home. I want to move my iris and will need to store them for 6-7 months (Aug to February) until I can plant them at my new home. Please tell me how to save them and quickly as we are moving in the next 2 weeks.

Moving a garden is so hard to do, even when you are looking forward to the end result.

I think your most reliable effort would be to transplant them to a friend's garden now and then move them again later next spring when you have a new planting bed prepared for them. If that's not possible, you can dig them and plant them in nursery type pots and then hold them in a somewhat protected area over the winter and then plant them outside in mid spring. One more option is to dig them and bare root them and dry them off and try to hold them that way until planting time next spring. (Don't let them freeze.) Good luck with your iris!
