| Tomatoes thrive in heat, lots of sunshine and ample water. Healthy plants are less susceptible to insect and disease problems so keeping your plants healthy should keep them free of pests. Of course you do want some insects around to help pollinate the flowers! Water your plants when the top of the soil begins to dry out and feed every 3 weeks with a half strength dilution of a water soluable ferilizers (such as Miracle Gro or Peter's).
