Your mandevilla may just be showing some signs of stress while it is getting used to its new growing place. A difference in exposure to the sun, watering frequency (or rain!!), or even the temperature can all cause leaves to yellow and drop. If the new growth looks healthy but some of the older leaves are dropping, it's probably normal. You didn't say how long you've had your mandevilla. I'd give it another 3 weeks or so to adjust and then cut it back to encourage healthy new growth. The new growth should cover the trellis in a short time. You'll get flowers when the temperature suits your plant so be patient with it. Enjoy your garden!
