Slug eggs are laid in clusters in the soil so I'd cultivate the soil around the plants to dig up any clusters that might be lurking there. I've had problems with slugs and snails, too, and use a bait called Sluggo. It is iron based so anything not consumed will dissolve into simple iron which is good for the soil. It is harmless to wildlife, pets and people but very efficient in controlling slugs and snails. Good luck with your garden!
