I'm new to Tennessee and need to know what vegetables I can grow here and when to plant them.

You can grow most any vegetables in Tennessee, but I'm sure there are varieties of those crops that are best suited to your region of the state. If you have a garden already to plant, you can get still get some fall crops in this year: beans, beets, chinese cabbage, lettuce, spinach, radish, and kale, for starters. Also, late October is the time to plant garlic. For a list of varieties that do well in your locale, contact your county agricultural extension office (ph# 423/476-4552), and request a list. Enjoy your new garden!
