I have a mandevilla in the corner of my yard in the shade as recomended. Its been in for a yr and had blooms on it originally but now it has not vined, bloomed, grown and some leaves are turning yellow. Don't know what is wrong it really is not doing anything!

Mandevilla needs some sunshine in order to bloom well. In Florida that would equate to morning sun but shade from the hot afternoon sunshine. If it is not growing at all I think the site is inappropriate. You may want to relocate your mandevilla and replant it in well amended soil in a site with morning sunshine. After planting prune it back a bit to encourage new (and hopefully flowering) growth. Best wishes with your plant.
