Horseradish seldom produces seeds, so you'll need to start plants from root cuttings. Space the plants 1' apart, planting 2-4 inches deep. Because the roots can grow several feet deep, prepare the soil well by incorporating organic material like compost or aged-manure into the bed prior to planting. Horseradish needs regular watering, especially in the in the late summer and fall months, when the plants do most of their growing.
